Use of AngusSource® EID Tags in our Commercial Cattle Herd on the Horizon

We will soon be using AngusSource® EID Tags on our commercial cattle. The use of these tags are becoming more and more essential in livestock management, and sourcing the livestock that are processed for food and more. Using EID tags can benefit both the rancher, feed lots, and processing plants as well as the general consumer. With the use of these tags, cattle can be easily and quickly identified and sourced back to the ranch they were born on.

Because we raise registered Angus cattle, and use our Registered Black Angus Bulls to sire our commercial herds, we are able to use the AngusSource® EID tags on our commercial cattle herd. Visit angus.org to learn more about the AngusSource USDA Process Verified Program.

What do you think about the price? Is it worth the price to use it on a commercial cattle herd? It is impressive the technology out there and the continual improvement of the angus breed. Keeping the breed as cost effective is going to keep it at the top. Do you think WE are producers will be able to track our cattle in feedlots and how they end up performing? This would be something to consider when getting these id tags so we can be paid for having a quality program and paying more for the cutting edge id tags. Just a little thought on it. Looking forward to hearing more from ya ll.
